Google is quietly removing one of the last “manual” pillars of search advertising. Dynamic Search Ads are being phased out, and campaigns are being pushed into AI Max, where ads are no longer built by marketers, but generated directly from your website.

This changes something fundamental. Your website is no longer just a destination, it becomes the source of truth for your ads, your copy, your targeting, and even your optimization.

In other words, your landing page is now your campaign.

To make this work, it is no longer about ranking pages, but about being understood by AI systems. I broke this shift down in more detail here:

👉 Long live the answer: the evolution of SEO

AI Max promises better performance, higher ROAS, and less manual work, but there is a trade-off. Control is disappearing, and visibility into what is really driving performance becomes harder.

For performance teams, this means a shift in responsibility, away from campaign structure and toward signal quality, content clarity, and conversion readiness.

If your website is vague, generic, or not aligned with real customer intent, AI will not fix it, it will amplify it.

And that is where most teams will struggle.

The best performance marketers will not be campaign builders anymore, they will be signal architects.
